Brest, France, 1970
Yann Tiersen
The piano, accordion and waltz of Amélie. It won him the César.
A Breton, he studied violin and piano at the conservatoire and then played in rock bands. He was recording albums almost entirely at home when Jean-Pierre Jeunet used his music for Amélie, which became a best-seller in France and won him the César. Two years later he scored Good Bye, Lenin!, which won the German Film Award. Since then he has favoured his own albums over film.
