Erich Wolfgang Korngold
An opera composer in Vienna and the man behind The Adventures of Robin Hood, the model for the big adventure score.
Mahler called him a genius when he was ten, and at twenty-three he premiered the opera Die tote Stadt. Max Reinhardt brought him to Hollywood in 1934. When the Nazis took Austria he stayed in the United States, and Warner let him treat each film like an opera without singers. The Errol Flynn swashbuckler scores come from him.
