Alejandro Amenábar
A director who writes the music for his own films. He won the Goya for best score with The Sea Inside.
He came to Madrid as a child. He taught himself music, playing guitar and keyboards, and since Thesis he has written the score for nearly all his films, sometimes with other musicians helping on orchestration. The Others and The Sea Inside were both nominated for the Goya for best score, and The Sea Inside won. One exception is Agora, scored by Dario Marianelli.
